Encouraging news on the improvement of school food, the most significant improvement to the school food program in 30 years will likely be passed in the House on Thursday, December 16, 2010. “The legislation gives a boost to the “locavore” local food movement that urges consumption of locally produced food by including $40 million to encourage schools to buy food from local farms and to start their own gardens.”

Special guests will include Frank Morrow who works with Fiscal Fairness, and congressman Paul Tonko. There will be a stipend to help cover our costs although we haven't worked out the exact amount yet. The event on our side will be very much the way Spring Deliverance at St. Joseph's was - chefs and their stations, a bar, Chip's art displays and live music.

Proceeds will enhance and support the Library’s programs, including our children’s activities, lectures and concerts at our beautiful new building, which is in eastern Columbia County, and serves the towns of Hillsdale, Copake and Ancram.

• Ticket price: $100 per person, $175 for two
• Theatrical performance by Carl Ritchie’s troupe
