Tuthilltown Spirits
Ralph Erenzo and partner Brian Lee started the Tuthilltown Spirits micro-distillery in 2001 in a converted mill granary in Gardiner, NY. More than two years later the two introduced their first vodka. Spirit of the Hudson Vodka is distilled from locally sourced apple cider that is fermented and distilled to 191 proof. Since the launch of their premium apple vodka the company has expanded their product line to include several different whiskeys, rum, eau de vie, brandy and Hudson Baby Bourbon, which is distilled entirely from local corn. Tuthilltown Spirits also produces a corn whisky (nostagically referred to by some as “Moonshine” or “White Lightning”) from 100 % locally grown corn.

Derek Grout, Core Vodka
Harvest Spirits and Core Vodka
Derek Grout is one of five sons in the Golden Harvest Farms family (brother Darren is the plant manager at Tierra Farms a few miles away in Chatham). Together with Tom Crowell from Chatham Brewing the two learned the arduous process of creating vodka from apples. The distillery process starts with cider pressed from substandard or “second” apples. Yeast is added to create a fermented apple cider. Then the hard cider is distilled into vodka. Today the product line of Harvest Spirits includes Vodka, Applejack, Brandy and Grappa. The distillery is open to the public for tastings every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5pm.
